Annually during the months of February and March, we interview hundreds of high school juniors from San Diego County and select 60 to attend California Boys State at California State University, Sacramento in June. There, they engage in a participatory program where they become part of the operation of local, county, and state government. They will learn about the rights, privileges, and responsibilities of franchised citizens. Operated by students elected by their peers to various offices. Activities include legislative sessions, court proceedings, law-enforcement presentations, assemblies, bands, choruses, and sporting programs. American Legion Posts throughout the county fund the program.
