62 San Diego County High School Juniors set for California Boys State

22 San Diego County American Legion Posts have invested 31,000.00 in 62 hard-working and intelligent High Schools Juniors to attend California Boys State from 15 June to 23 June 2018. These bright leaders represent 50 High Schools in San Diego County.

Thanks to our District Boys State Chairman, Joe Watt and the 22 Post Chairpersons for visiting our local High Schools, conducting interviews and selecting these inspiring young men to attend California Boys State.

An orientation was held at American Legion Post 282 in La Mesa on 12 May 2018 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The meeting opened with an invocation by Chaplain Gus Freeman, presentation of the colors of our nation by the Mira Mesa High School Air Force JRROTC. Chief Legal Counselor for California Boys State, Bill Smelko and the Director of Boys State, Richard Shick explained the program to delegates and parents. 2017 Boys State Alumni, Michael Armon also addressed the gathering.
